We’re here at the final hockey game and the final game at 2010 Winter Olympics. This is the men’s hockey gold medal game between two Olympic rivals – United States and Canada.
This is the second faceoff of United States and Canada. They first met during the preliminary round (Game 17) on February 22. Canada had great plays but U.S. was able to stop them in the second and third period. Sidney Crosby put his team one point behind the U.S. with less than four minutes in that game but Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler sprawls onto the ice and puts the puck into the empty net, securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

Canada is on the lead, 1-0, here in the second period. Twenty-one year old Jonathan Toews, who is currently the team captain of Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL, gave Canada their first goal in the game. Toews scored at 12:50 in the first period, the result of a turnover by American defenseman Erik Johnson. Canada’s second goal came from Perry Corey at 7:13 in the second period.
Kesler scored for U.S. at 12:44 also in the second period to cut the lead, 1-2. Canada attempted 6 times to score in this second period but failed. With less than a minute left in the last period, Zach Parise bravely took the shot, scored for US, to tie the score 2-2. Parise helped push the game into overtime.
Crosby scored at 7:40 in the overtime period. Crosby did a wonderful job tonight. He scored the gold-medal winning goal! Canadian women and men’s hockey team defeated the U.S. team in this year’s Winter Olympics.
