Real Madrid vs Zaragoza live match will be held at Santiago Bernabeu, this afternoon, December 19, 2009 at 4:00 PM ET.
Real Madrid currently sits on the second place of La Liga with 34 points from 14 matches. The team has 11 wins, 1 draw and only 2 losses but not good enough to pull down Barcelona. Real Zaragoza is on the 15th spot with only 3 wins, 3 draws and 8 losses. The team is one of the bottom three of the league and they need to win to move up to the 12th spot.
Real Madrid performed well on their last two matches. They were able to beat Almeria on December 5 by a score of 4-2. And on December 12, they defeated Valencia with a final score of 2-3. At first half both teams remained scoreless but after halftime, Real Madrid’s second striker Gonzalo Gerardo “El Pipita” Higuain gave the first score of the game. Valencia’s striker David “El Guaje” Villa scored for the team’s first goal at 60 minutes of the game but after 5 minutes, Higuain made another goal. Valencia’s right winger Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez tied the match at 80 minutes of the game but after 3 minutes aa goal coming from Real Madrid’s central defender Ezequiel Marcelo Gara put an end to the game.
It was a hard-fought battle for Real Madrid but they were able to control their previous games. Though Zaragoza is not a threat to them, key players of Real Madrid were out. Zaragoza might use this opportunity to win. Brazilian football midfielder Kaka still has groin injury while Pepe (Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira) underwent a knee surgery and he will be sidelined for about 6 months. Defensive midfielder Raul Albiol will be out as well because he has injured arm while Xabi Alonso is suspended.
“I think we’ve got nothing to lose and we have to be bold.”
Jose Aurelio Gay, Real Zaragoza Coach
