Randy “The Natural” Couture defeated Brandon “The Truth” Vera by unanimous decision last Saturday night on UFC 105. All three judges scores 29-28 and this makes Vera very disappointed. This is not the first time that the winner of the main event in UFC earns controversies. In UFC 104, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida also received such intrigues because people thinks that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua dominated the fight. It may seem that Lyoto should not win but if you have just look very closely to the fight, Lyoto successfully controlled the fight. Shogun had several attempts to take down Lyoto but Lyoto’s defense is so strong and he is so intelligent in the ring. But this case is different from Couture-Vera fight.
First of all it’s not a title fight so that means even though there was no technical knock out, judges should have consider the devastating kicks and the successful takedown in the third round by Vera. But it seems that the judges didn’t see this highlights of the game. Joe Rogan interviewed Couture after the fight to ask if he was surprise by the judges’ decision. Couture could not tell directly that he agrees with it and you can that he was not sure about his fight. Even though Couture has a lot of fans, they can’t deny the fact that Vera dominated in that fight for he was able to overpower him.
