The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight which is set this March 13, 2010 is canceled. The biggest fight in the history of boxing was canceled because Manny Pacquiao refused to be subjected to Olympic-type drug-testing in the weeks leading up to the match.
The negotiation has been set up. Mayweather’s camp said that they have already granted all Team Pacquiao’s request including 50-50 split in revenue, 8 ounce Cleto Reyes Punchers gloves, 147 pound weight limit and for every pound Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighs over this limit, he will pay $10 million dollar fine. But Mayweather’s camp said that Team Pacquiao cannot grant his simple request.
Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather’s manager, insisted the fight would not happen if Pacquiao did not agree to undergo Olympic-style drug testing.
A SIMPLE REQUEST OF MAYWEATHER: THE OLYMPIC-STYLE DRUG TESTING
The Olympic-style drug testing will collect samples of urine and blood. The Nevada State Athletic Commission requires urine testing of fighters immediately after the match, but does not require blood tests unlike the Olympic-style drug testing. Some drugs can be detected in blood test so it is said to be the most effective way to determine whether Pacquiao uses performance-enhancing drugs or not.
Mayweather’s camp wanted Pacquiao to adopt U.S. Anti-Doping Agency guidelines that will subject him to repeated blood tests in the days leading up to the fight. And this is not a good idea according to Team Pacquiao.
Controversies followed after Team Pacquiao rejected Mayweather’s camp request. Some of the people suspected that Mayweather’s camp maybe right that Pacquiao really uses performance-enhancing drugs that’s why he defeated all the great fighters in boxing. These people thought that if Pacquiao is a clean fighter, why would he refuse to undergo random drug test? Is he hiding for something? Other people said that Team Pacquiao is being irate and defensive to this issue which sounds like they were guilty.
According to Team Pacquiao they did not actually refuse to have blood taken for testing before the initial media conference and after the bout. But they would definitely not agree to have blood drawn within 30 days before the fight. Pacquiao believes that taking blood will weaken him. Most specially that it will subject him for repeated blood test.
In order to prove that Pacquiao is a clean fighter and never taken any drugs, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said that the tests should be done by companies used by major sports leagues, like Major League Baseball (MLB) and national Football League (NFL) but Mayweather’s camp insisted that the tests should be done by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
Coach Freddie Roach said he hoped the issue was not brought up as a way to get Mayweather out of the fight. He said that Mayweather Jr. is looking for a back door out and they were the one eager to make the fight happen.

Never in the history of boxing that this kind of Olympic-style drug test was taken by boxers. The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) was the one handling the test to check whether a boxer is taking drugs or not.

But still, there are some who don’t believe that a certain Asian boxer dominated in the history of boxing.

Arum is tired of negotiating with Mayweather’s camp. He said that Mayweather is coward and never really wanted to fight Pacquiao. If Mayweather-Pacquiao fight may not push through, he said that possible next foes for Pacquiao include the WBA Super welterweight Champion, Yuri Foreman, or the former IBF junior welterweight champion – Paul Malignaggi.

in the interest of both fighters i think no testing will done when in trainings it’s form of harrashment and should be sked there olympic style testing with in 48hrs before the fight and one after the fight and both fighter should have pick 2 independent agency 1 for pacman and 1 mayweather both agency will take blood for each fighter

For Manny’s sake: If he’s worried about “getting weak” how about just the after-fight drug test?
For Mayweather’s sake: Just fight him without the never-before-done-in-pro-boxing tests. If he loses, he’ll get the same amount of money and be able to pay the IRS.
There is a big difference between tattoo needles that prick your skin a fraction of a millimeter to stain your skin to form a tatoo, and a hyperdermic needle that is inserted into your vein and sucks out spoonfuls of your blood into a tube. For those who point to Pacquiao’s tattoos and cannot understand why he can have needles for tattoos but not needles for withdrawing blood, you people are idiots. This psychological warfare for the Mayweathers period. Mayweather needs an edge to fight Manny. Talk about fairness, what about the extra two pounds he cheated on when he fought Marquez. Mayweather knows full well that Pacquiao is not taking an PED’s. A blood and urine test right after the fight will clearly show anything that any fighter may have been taking. Manny’s LEGACY is already solidified by his 7 belts and 4 lineal title. He made HISTORY already and doesn’t anybody to prove anything. For more than 15 years he always tested negative from drugs. Mayweather is smart not to fight Pacquiao. He has already made his “little money”. Why take the risk getting busted and ending the fight with his body being horizontal in the ring.
