
US President Barack Obama will have an eight-day trip in Asia to discuss mainly about the economic issues. This will be his first Asian tour and for his first stop is Tokyo, Japan. He’ll meet Yukio Hatoyama, the new Prime Minister of Japan and they will discuss the issue regarding the relocation of U.S. Marine Corps base in Okinawa.
Aside from Japan, he’ll attend the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit which will be held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, he’ll visit two cities in China which is Shanghai and Beijing to discuss trade and industry in the country, and his last agenda is to visit Seoul in Korea from November 18-19 for a summit with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.
President Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will discuss about their fight against climate change, anti-terrorism, strengthening of Korea-US Alliance, financial crisis, and they’ll focus on how to denuclearize North Korea based on the framework of the six-party talks.
After the European tour, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also visit Asia. She’s currently in a live forum in Manila, Philippines today. This is the first time in the history of the Philippine television that a US Secretary of State holds a televised public forum. She will also discuss the U.S.-Philippines treaty alliance with the Philippine government officials and visit victims of the typhoon Ondoy.
