Lucie Jones Voted Out Of X Factor, Jedward Still Survives

The pretty and sweet 18-year old Lucie Jones was voted out of X Factor last Sunday, November 7, 2009, saving John and Edward Grimes. She was at the bottom two with “Jedward,” as the twins have been nicknamed, and it’s a very tough night for the judges.

Lucie performed her own rendition of the song “One Moment In Time” while John and Edward performed Robbie Williams’ “Rock DJ.” Though Louis Walsh believes in Lucie’s talent and as what he said that there’s no way that she should be placed at the bottom two, he rather saved the twins. Danii Minogue didn’t say anything but she chose Lucie. Cheryl Cole said that she have learned to love the twins week after week after week but she favored Lucie than them. The decision was now in the hands of Simon Cowell. He could have make Lucie win if he chose her but he let the public decide and unfortunately, most of the viewers love the twins. Simon always criticized the twins performance but it seems that behind these bad comments lies the fact that he loves watching them.

Actually, if you have watched the show, you can already tell the judges’ decision. And as expected, it goes to deadlock. If you have noticed Louis and Simon’s reaction, they were enjoying John and Edward’s performance while Danii and Cheryl were satisfied with Lucie’s performance.

Lucie’s “One Moment In Time” was not that powerful but it seems to be more competitive than John and Edward usual sing and dance performance. Both Danii and Cheryl agreed that Lucie’s talent is a bit considerable compare to the twins. There’s nothing spectacular on the twins performance and they perform the same way since the first week of the competition. According to Carolyn Hitt’s article in Walesonline.co.uk, the public vote is fickle because it can be skewed by teenage crushes and can be manipulated by cynically-packaged sob stories. According to the same article, X Factor show is more soap opera than singing contest.

Though Simon was fueled by lots of controversies in his deadlock decision last Sunday, figures showed that the twins are the one who help ITV earned hundreds of thousands of pounds. Though the twins cannot sing high notes, cannot dance like an expert, and turned out to be unlikely stars of the show, they always got the majority of the fans votes. 16.6 million viewers have watched the Sunday night show and it is said that if the twins will still survive until the last show on December, ITV can earn up to £250,000 on their show’s ad break.
