2009 Lithuania Presidential Election Result or 2009 Lithuania Presidential winner – Dalia Grybauskaite
Valdas Adamkus (2004-2009)
Voldemaras Adamkaviciu is the current president of Lithuania. It was actually his second term in Presidency. His first term was on February 1998 – February 2003. He ran again for presidency the next year but was defeated by Rolandas Paksas. But former president Paksas was impeached and by April 2004 he was forcely removed to his office. Valdas ran again and this time won for the secoond time. He began his second term in July 2004 and appointed Algirdas Brazauskas as the Prime Minister.
Lithuania Voting System
The 2009 Lithuania Presidential candidates will be elected through people’s votes and will serve for 5 years. The new president will appoint the country’s Prime Minister.
The first round of election will be held today, May 17, 2009 and the second round will be on June 7, 2009.
