KUWAIT – 2009 Parliamentary Election Result

KUWAIT VOTING SYSTEM

Kuwait was ruled by Sabah family for 250 years. Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah is the current emir of Kuwait.

Before women are not eligible to vote but since the past three elections until now, women are given the right to vote for their leaders. Men and women of 21 years old and above , are eligible to vote. Police and armed forces are exempted but will have the right to vote if they will be citizen for 20 years.

Each of the voters will vote for 4 candidates. In 5 constituency, the top 10 candidates will win a seat. The candidate who will win will serve for 4 years.
