Joseph Andrew Stack, a 53-year old software engineer from San Marcos, Texas, flew his Piper Cherokee PA-28 and crashed into Building I of the Echelon office complex in Austin, Texas at 11:00 a.m. EST. It was reported that prior to this incident, on Thursday morning, he set his house (in the 1800 block of Dapplegrey Lane) on fire with his wife with their 12-year old daughter inside. With the help of their neighbors, his wife and his daughter were not killed nor injured.
An online document posted on his website – Embeddedart, dated February 18, 2010 contained 6-page manifesto. The website has been taken offline by the web hosting company, T35, in compliance with a request from the FBI.
According to TSG, Alex Melen, whose firm hosts Stack’s site, said that Stack last changed his web site this morning at 10:12 AM EST. They were contacted by FBI at 2:45 p.m. today to delete Stack’s webpages and left a note stating that FBI requested to delete Stack’s website due to the sensitive nature of the events that transpired in Texas this morning.
The 6-page manifesto or suicidal note is entitled “Well Mr. Big Brother IRS man… take my pound of flesh and sleep well.” This is all about his grudge against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and George Bush administration.
According to recent reports, the plane crash is not to be considered as a terrorism act or a threat to the country. As what Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said, the crash “appears to be an intentional act.” He also added that Stack targeted federal offices of Echelon building.
Authorities did not find Stack’s body. It was also reported that the crash left 13 injured and 2 critically wounded.
