Because of this decision, MMAjunkie posted some reason why Jon Jones was disqualified on his match against Matt Hamill.
Here’s what Keith Kizer told MMAjunkie :
“After halting the bout, Mazzagatti asked for the replay to determine whether the illegal blows contributed to the ending of the fight. When replays showed that the elbows scored directly to the eye, the disqualification result was issued. Because the illegal blows landed as part of the sequence that ended the fight, the ruling was made.”

Mazanazi is a terrible ref and should not be allowed near the sport.
I watched the video to thanks to TIVO. The fight was not stopped because of the elbow, Matt was more worried about his dislocated arm than the cut above his nose. The gash had been open an bleeding before the 2 elbows that didnt even connect. This was bull crap because in the next fight James threw 3 of those illegal elbows and the fight resumed.
