The Japanese government is willing to accept 500 health care workers from Indonesia starting April 2010. Under an economic partnership agreement with Indonesia, Japan will welcome 300 caregivers and 200 nurses from the said country and a public organization related to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS), will recruit hospitals who will accept Indonesian health care workers.
Citizens from Japan just worried about the fact on how they will communicate with the foreigners. Most workers from outside their country are having a problem coping with the Japanese language and it takes long time before they can be able to learn it. But Indonesian government will make it sure that their candidates are capable of handling the work and can cope with their culture.
Japan not only welcome Indonesian workers but also Philippine caregivers. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for school courses under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) on the Movement of Natural Persons was signed last June 5, 2009 at Sulo hotel located in Quezon city, Philippines. The Managing Director of JICWELS, Mr. Takashi Tsunoda, and the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Emmanuel Y. Angeles signed the agreement. Ambassador Makoto Katsura of Japan was present during the signing ceremony.
The MOU focuses on a two to four-year school course for qualified caregiver candidates. All candidates will have the privilege to enroll in a caregiver school in Japan and will be qualified as certified health care workers upon completion of the course.
