The Houston’s City Council unanimously approved an agreement today, April 13, 2010 for a new stadium to be built and ready for use in April 2012.

The proposed stadium will have a capacity of 20,000. In partnership with the city of Houston and Major League Soccer, the said stadium project will cost around $95 million. About $60 million will be paid by the Dynamo for the construction and about $20 million will be paid by the city and county for infrastructure improvements.

The city purchased the vacant lot in east of downtown Houston for $15 million in March 2008. The said stadium which is not only the home stadium of Houston Dynamo but will be use by Texas Southern University, is near Toyota Center, where the Houston Rockets play and Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros.
