Robert-Enke-german-goalkeeper-died-suicideRobert Enke, goalkeeper of Germany soccer club Hannover 96, shocked the entire Bundesliga fans after it was reported that he died today, November 10, 2009. He died after being hit by a train Neustadt am Ruebenberge located at 25-km northeast of Hanover which is just near to Enke’s home.

German national football team coach Joachim Loew, Hannover 96 manager Andreas Bergmann, President of Hannover 96 Martin Kind, and President Theo Zwanziger of German Football Association were all shocked and speecheless. They said that Enke is a great loss in the federation. President Kind also added that he didn’t think that Enke’s death had anything to do with football.

Police of Lower Saxony suspected that this is a suicide case. The drivers of the train saw him crossing and they said that they tried to apply the brakes but the train didn’t stop on time. Joerg Neblung, a friend and adviser of Enke, have already spoken to media and he confirmed that Enke really committed suicide. Speculations aroused that Enke has a major issue in his soccer career or team that’s why he committed suicide.

Hannover 96 is currently on the top 10 spot in Bundesliga. They are scheduled to play against Schalke 04 on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Veltins Arena and Germany also has a game against Chile on Saturday for the International Friendlies but there are no further reports whether these games will be postponed because of Enke’s death or not.
