Google is considered as the most popular and most used search engine today because its system aids the users to get good results and related information in just one click. Google is now changing it’s algorithm to aid music searches. The changes that they have made have started yesterday.

Google-Improved-Music-Search-Double-Traffic-For-Song-Download-SitesThe top ten queries online are music related. Google realized that they need to improve their system and make it smarter in a way that users can easily preview the song and quickly gives you song you’ve been looking for even though you just type one line of the lyrics. Once you type the title of the song, artist, or album, you can get previews of the songs. It’s not that Google will create a new service in which you can download songs but it will give you direct link to commercial sites that do offer songs for sale. Take note that not all music or download sites will be included. Google will only include sites that have licensing deals with music publishers and artist labels like Lala.com, MySpace, Pandora, iMeem and Rhapsody at the top of the first page.

So why are they getting so strict about the links that they will include? Of course, to prevent spam, copyright issues, and irrelevant search results. These commercial sites will double up their traffic because they will directly appear to searches but the spokesperson of Google said that those sites will not pay Google for the driving traffic to their sites.  Of course if the traffic increases, sales increases too. And that’s really incredible! Everyone is getting benefited in these enhancements.

According to Hitwise.com, Google was the top referral website to the Music category which delivered 30% of the total traffic to the category last week. It is five times more than Yahoo! Search and six times more than MySpace. The new and improved algorithm is expected to increase the effectiveness of Google music search.

We tried to test it, and it seems working fine but there are still some songs that does not give exactly what we wanted. And as what Google spokesperson have said, they are still working for nonmusic search terms that may seem like a song. Maybe we can see more changes this coming days.

Try to test it today! Go to Google Music page or you can just type your music search in the Google homepage.
