She learned a lot from her experiences in 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Kearney officially bumped out of the top 20 (she ranked 22nd) and did not make it to the qualification round. This time, Kearney redeemed her lost glory and made a big contribution for the USA Team.

Kearney earned 14.2 turns score and dominated the fight in the air with 5.40 points. She finished with a combined score of 26.63. Fellow Shannon Bahrke, the first US women’s freestyle skier to win multiple Olympic medals, won the bronze medal this year.

Jennifer Heil of Canada, who won the first gold medal for Canada in the 2006 Winter Olympics games, won the silver medal. Heil has 13.7 turns score and 4.98 air score. Fellow Chloe Dufour-Lapointe ranked fifth with 23.87 points.

Other mogul skier who made it to the top 10 are Aiko Uemura of Japan (4th) with 24.68 points, Margarita Marbler of Austria (6th) with 23.69 points, Ekaterina Stolyarova of Russia (7th) with 23.55 points, Arisa Murata of Japan (8th) with 23.22 points, Regina Rakhimova of Russia (9th) with 22.70 points, and Deborah Scanzio of Italy (10th) with 22.19 points.

According to Erik Matuszewski of Business Week, Kearney will have her own ice cream flavor to go with a Winter Olympic gold medal. An ice cream maker based in Kearney’s home state of Vermont, Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc, said that it would bring out a new flavor, Kearney favorite – combination of coffee ice cream and chocolate cookies, to honor her. This flavor was not yet named but the company spokesman said that it may be “Kearney’s Java Jolt Bolt & Cookies.”
