Giants Stadium, the home stadium of NFL teams (New York Jets and New York Giants ) and New York Red Bulls team of MLS, which is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will be getting demolished today.
Giants Stadium is first major league sporting venue in New Jersey, makes it as one of the oldest stadium of NFL. Aside from hosting college football games, many notable concerts have been held in this stadium which includes concert of Madonna, Elton John, The Jacksons, Kiss, The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Metallica, Radiohead, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Guns N’ Roses, Paul McCartney, and U2 which brought 84,472 fans, the largest attendees in Giants Stadium.
Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in this stadium on October 5, 1995 during a rainstorm and this mark as the second largest crowd to ever attend an event at this stadium with a total of 82,948 attendees.
The demolition is scheduled to be completed before the new Meadowlands Stadium opens. This new stadium, which can accommodate 82,500 crowd, will be the third largest NFL stadium. Bon Jovi’s concert will officially open the new stadium.
