The 42nd President of U.S., Bill Clinton, was hospitalized at New York Presbyterian Hospital. According to Douglas Band, Clinton’s aide and counselor, he experienced chest pains that’s why he was rushed to the hospital.
Associated Press interviewed Dr. Clyde Yancy, cardiologist at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and president of the American Heart Association. Yancy said that it is not unxpected for Clinton to need another procedure. Clinton had two stents inserted today to open a clogged heart artery. Stents are man-made tube widely used for clogged arteries. The coronary stents are placed during a coronary angioplasty procedure which widens a narrowed or obstructed blood vessel and allow blood to flow through.
Yancy said that it is not a one-time event and they need to monitor his condition for this kind of heart ailment is progressive.
CNN reported that Clinton stayed in the hospital this evening even though he was fine after the surgery. Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, was with him in the hospital and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit him even though she has a trip to the Persian Gulf tomorrow.
