AC Milan coach Leonardo Araujo couldn’t promise midfielder David Beckham that he will be at the starting line-up on their match against Manchester United at Old Trafford stadium on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 for round 16 of UEFA Champions League. When asked if Beckham would be in his starting eleven, Leonardo tried his best to avoid the answering the question.
This is what coach Leonardo told to ESPN:
“For Beckham, it is obviously something special to have the opportunity to play against Manchester United given his history at the club. When we saw the draw we knew it would be an unbelievable situation for him. But knowing David, and his attitude, I am sure he can cope. And independent of that, he is very important for the group as a whole and we are always grateful for his presence.”
Beckham returns home for the first time since leaving the club for Real Madrid seven years ago. It was a very important game for him and even though he’s always been a Manchester United fan, he said that he wants his old team to lose on their game this Wednesday. Though he knew that it will be a tough game, Beckham said that there’s nothing impossible.
