The Independent candidate and the European Union budget commissioner Dalia Grybauskaite, won the 2009 Lithuania(Lietuvos) Presidential Election last Sunday, May 17, 2009. She is now the successor of Valdas Adamkus’ position.
Dalia Grybauskaite is the first woman president of Lithuania. She owns 70% of total votes. Before the election day, she promised to manage the country with the use of her knowledge and experience. Her knowledge and experience in financial policies will be a great help in Lithuania’s economic crisis.
Now that Ms. Grybauskaite is the new president of Lithuania (Lietuvos), there will be reshuffling in the cabinet.
