Canadian freestyle skiier, Ashleigh McIvor, has won the gold medal on February 23 at Cypress Mountain and now has become the first Olympic champion in women’s skicross as the sports made its debut at the 2010 Winter Olympics. This is not a surprise anymore because McIvor is the 2009 FIS Freestyle World Ski champion.
Despite of heavy snow fall, it did not stop McIvor from achieving her dreams. She threw her arms in the air while the crowd cheers for her. In an interview made by CTV, McIvor expressed how happy she was. She said that she was very proud. And this is what she said in an interview made by CBC,
“I was just so proud of myself to come here ready to race. I felt like there was nothing more I could have done to be better equipped to have come here, and it worked out, and I can’t believe it!”
Norway’s Hedda Berntsen won the silver medal while France’ Marion Josserand won the bronze medal. Austria’s Karin Huttary, who got the silver medal in the 2009 FIS Freestyle World Championships, was able to reach the final round but not good enough to win a medal.
