The 2010 American Idol winner is none other than Lee DeWyze. Lee defeated the pride of Elliston, Ohio – Crystal Bowersox, who is said to be the most powerful singer in season 9. He received the $1 million prize and a recording contract. His debut album containing 12 tracks will be released on October 26, 2010.
The 24-year old singer-songwriter is from Mount Prospect, Illinois. Lee, who auditioned with the song “Ain’t No Sunshine” at Chicago’s United Center in June 2009, was just encouraged by his friend Vincent Ferrara who also joined the competition. He was one of only thirteen chosen from Chicago to advance to Hollywood Week and all throughout season 9, he was the only male contestant to never land in the bottom three. Among the songs that he performed are “One of Us” by Joan Osborne, “Get Ready” by The Temptations, “You Found Me” by The Fray, “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol, “Lips of an Angel” by Hinder, “Fireflies” by Owl City, “Beast of Burden” by The Rolling Stones, “The Letter” by The Box Tops, “Treat Her Like a Lady” by Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose, “Hey Jude” by The Beatles, “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley, “The Boxer” by Simon & Garfunkel, “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain, “That’s Life” y Frank Sinatra, “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal, “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “Everybody Hurts” by R.E.M, and he sang “Beautiful Day” by U2 in the finale. He also sang “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once” with Crystal Bowersox which is said to be the best duet performance in Season 9.
Lee joins first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, second-season winner Ruben Studdard, third-season winner Fantasia Barrino, fourth-season winner Carrie Underwood, fifth-season winner Taylor Hicks, sixth-season winner Jordin Sparks, seventh-season winner David Cook, and last season’s winner Kris Allen.

Sorry, but Crystal was the better performer from beginning to end. Lee was good, but with this “victory” it is obvious (once again) that American Idol is fixed. Why not show the vote results? Last year Chris has his ass severely kicked by Adam Lambert and Lee was thrashed by Crystal this year, however, with Adam being Gay and Crystal admitting she wasn’t a fan of the show in the beginning, they naturally can’t win. Forget American Idol, it’s crap and people are starting to realize it (notice how the viewership numbers are slipping, and so is the show’s ranking). Now with Simon gone, this show is swimming in the toilet.

Lee deffently deserved to win. He did so good at rehearsal. thank god for his fans or he wouldnt have got it!. Go leee:)

I think Crystal definately should have won. She was the best throughout the entire season. Even in the final performance Lee sucked the last show. Crystal as always was amazing. And I agree with Eric the show seems to be fixed, and without Simon the show does not stand a chance.
He deserves it 100% his voice is great, his attitude is wonderful and his personality is close to the heart, not forgetting that he is also handsome and humble, he was so shy –he’s still shy but not as much as he used to be-. So why not to win?? He worked very hard at himself, Crystal’s attitude is not that wow she is arrogant not close to the heart not at all, and when she raises her voice it becomes noisy
I don’t know why the conspiracy theory!!???? When someone we want to win and s/he doesn’t we start the crap that this was planed and so on!! She wasn’t a fan of the program?! Ok???? So what? Is that a reason to play with the results??? That’s funny!

I picked Lee to win it from the very beginning. My name should be Simon because I always pick who will win almost every time.
I agree TOTALLY with “Eric” because even I noticed that they did not let Adam Lambert win, only because American idol does not want a gay winner, even if he kicked everyones butt!! And also i would like American idol to show the voting results as to show really who won. But this last season, i was with Crystal Bowersox all the way, and they don’t let her win, just because she said she wasn’t a fan from the beginning, but she did kick Lee’s ass, I really 100% totally agree with “eric”…..it is becoming quite obvious that American Idol is Fixed!!! I really love American idol but now when i watch it, i can see it is fixed…..Oh yeah, another thing is that Crystal Bowersox had WAYYYY more fans + she had more GREAT comments from the 4 judges…..now i don’t really like American Idol like how i used to; getting back from school early so i can do h\w fast then watch american idol, now i watch Ellen DeGeneres….I ? her~~!

Without a doubt he was the most powerful charismatic singer – not to say Crystal was not – but clearly he was the better choice – he is such a true unassuming person – Lee I hope you stay that way – you deserve it 500%%

DEFINITELY. I’m glad to find a lot of positive comments here. Lee is not only talented but also has a down-to-earth personality. Being a fan of both him and Crystal, I’m pretty okay with whoever takes the win. Both are supposed to be winners since they made it all the way to the finale. Go Lee!
