The famous British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, died today, February 11, 2010, weeks before the start of London Fashion Week and weeks before he was to show his new collection on March 9 at Paris Fashion Week. McQueen, a four time winner of the British Designer of the Year award, was found dead at his £640,000 flat on Green Street, in London’s West End.
Paramedics of the London Ambulance Service stated that they found McQueen already dead when they arrived at 10:40 a.m. His body was put into a private ambulance and was removed from the house at 4.46pm.
According to Sky News, the 40-year old fashion designer of Prince Charles, commited suicide, just days after the death of his beloved mother, Joyce. There are some reports that he was found hanged but it was not confirmed. Samantha Garrett, McQueen’s company spokeswoman, did not give further details about his death.
McQueen’s family were devastated about his death and they wanted the media and the other people to respect their privacy at this time.
