Accenture Ends A Sponsorship Deal With Tiger Woods, Nike And Tag Heuer Continues To Sponsor

Accenture, a giant management consultancy firm and Fortune Global 500 company, announced on December 13, 2009 that they are now putting an end to their sponsorship deal with Tiger Woods. This is the recent news announcement posted on Accenture’s website after Woods announced an indefinite break from golf to solve his personal problems.

Accenture and Tiger Woods have had a very successful sponsorship arrangement with the past six years. Woods had been a good representative for Accenture’s advertising but because Woods has been linked to 11 women since he crashed a car into a tree outside his Florida home on November, the company had to let him go.

Accenture is the first major sponsor known to have cut all ties with one of the best golfers of all time. Since the breakout of Woods affair in several women, some of his sponsors have limit his role in advertising like AT&T and Gillette. These companies said that they are just giving Woods time off to repair his personal life and save his marriage. According to Gillette spokesman Damon Jones they were just supporting Woods because Woods really want to step out of the public eye. Gatorade announced on Wednesday it has ended the sponsorship deal to Woods but this is not because of the controversies he is facing right now.

Nike and video game maker Electronic Arts are still tied with Woods for now despite the alleged infidelities. Swiss watch maker Tag Heuer will also continue its sponsorship deal with Woods. As what Tag Heuer spokeswoman Mariam Sylla said, the company does not care on his private life.
