Riyad Mahrez says he is stepping away from football

Riyad Mahrez is not responsible for the indifferent run of form Leicester are now experiencing, according to manager Claude Puel.

Mahrez said: "I'm not saying I'm going to leave, I'm not saying I'm going to go".

Riyad Mahrez still hasn't ruled out a summer move, insisting that this is how the sport goes - players come and players leave - but at the moment, he is a Leicester City player.

Mahrez's 97th-minute free-kick rescued a point for Leicester against Bournemouth last weekend, and the Algeria worldwide insists his mind is "focused on Leicester" and their remaining fixtures.

Reports suggest the player's facebook was hacked, neither he nor the club have confirmed this.

"It was hard, I've always been in contact with the club".

Mahrez described the period as a "difficult" time, explaining that his decision to stay away from training was to allow him to get things straight in his own head, praising Leicester and his teammates for their handling of the situation.

As of now, the Raptors will have a chance to play against the Boston Celtics three more times before the playoffs begin. The Celtics, 46-20, have off until Sunday night when they'll host the Indiana Pacers at the TD Garden in Boston.

"We always talk between me and the club, everything is good, so we will see in the summer if things come".

"It was hard, but I spoke with the players, I spoke with the manager, I spoke with everyone and everyone was OK, everyone was good", he said. "You always have regrets, but at the time I thought it was the best thing to do".

"To be honest the club handled it very good as well. When the team-mates and the club were behind me it was okay, it was very easy to come back here".

"Often found lurking on the shoulder of defenders, Mahrez has once again played his role as tormentor-in-chief for opposition players up and down the land this season", the article said.

Mahrez has also been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal.

"It won't affect me so I don't know why they tried to do that. We lost a good feeling about this game and there were mistakes", said Puel, whose side travel to bottom-of-the-table West Brom on Saturday.

"I can confirm that Riyad's page was hacked and that the post is not genuine", a Foxes spokesman told Omnisport.
