Seventh-Grader Shoots Himself in Ohio Middle School Bathroom

WEWS reports that all schools in the county are on lockdown and all four elementary schools in the district will remain closed today.

While investigators said the device was not an explosive that would have harmed anyone, they also would not describe it in detail.

A school official in OH says a middle school student apparently shot himself after bringing a gun to school.

A school official says the student is being treated at a hospital.

Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink said the student had "distractionary type devices".

No other students were hurt in the shooting at Jackson Middle School, near Massillon.

District officials say middle schools are seeing these changes to help improve the quality of education in low performing schools.

Police are investigating how the student obtained the gun and how he brought it into the building.
