Reporters blocked from covering Tillerson's horseback ride in Argentina

Tillerson said at a news conference in Buenos Aires.

Local experts referred the possibility that those agreements will translate into actions against the Venezuelan government, in tune with Tillerson's calls during his tour to take that kind of measures, while considering the possibility of "oil sanctions" against Caracas.

Washington may be nearing a decision on extending sanctions against Venezuela to include imports of Venezuelan crude and exports of US refined products to the troubled South American country.

“One of the aspects of considering sanctioning oil is what effect would it have on the Venezuelan people?

Banning exports of oil or refined oil products to Venezuela was also on the table, Tillerson added. "Not doing anything to bring this to an end is also asking the Venezuelan people to suffer for a much longer time".

The current visit of U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson seeks stronger bilateral, trade ties with Peru, foreign affairs analyst Juan Velit affirmed.

But such sanctions also pose a great threat to Maduro.

Tillerson, in a speech ahead of a visit to Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Jamaica, said China was getting a foothold in Latin America, using economic statecraft to pull the region into its orbit. "If he wants to step aside and let someone else follow through on that, that's fine, but our view is you must return to the constitution, and that's what we hope Venezuela ultimately will do".

Chiefs trade QB Smith to Redskins, saving $17 million
Washington's blockbuster trade for Alex Smith quickly became an out-of-nowhere, heat-seeking talking point during Super Bowl Week. Signs have pointed for some time that the Chiefs would trade Smith, their starting quarterback since he was acquired in 2013.

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri has enjoyed a close business relationship with Donald Trump that dates back to 1980s, and was one of the first to congratulate the American mogul when the latter was elected as president.

"This is under study, it's under consideration", Tillerson said about the potential sanctions.

Analysts say US oil sanctions could completely cripple the Venezuelan economy.

"But imperialism. has turned out to be a paper tiger, and here we have a true and vigorous revolution", the incumbent added.

Tillerson visited the Argentine Patagonia during his recent five-nation tour of Latin America and planned to ride horseback into the Nahuel Huapi national park, according to the Los Angeles Times.

While insisting that Washington was not pushing for Maduro to be ousted, Tillerson touted the idea that the Venezuelan president should consider leaving the country voluntarily before things get heated.

Maduro has accused the U.S. and its allies of trying to undermine his socialist government.
