Nokia 6 (2018) tested in GeekBench

We'll have to wait for review models before settling on a verdict, but it seems some fans have already made up their mind - one forum user concluded: "Consumers need to vote with their wallets on this one".

After a barrage of leaks of Nokia 6's successor, HMD Global has officially unveiled the Nokia 6 (2018) as it had promised. The smartphone will be available in Black and White color variants with Gold and Copper accents respectively. Even the 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front has the same aperture.

The Nokia 6 (2018) has a decent 3000mAh battery that should get you through the day. The Design looks far better than the OG Nokia 6. The smartphone is expected to unveil in February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. The only letdown with the original Nokia 6 was the processor. The smartphone was well received after its initial release in the Chinese market and managed to garner 250,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours.

As for camera, the Nokia 6 (2018) reportedly will be packed with a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor at the back and an 8-megapixel camera sensor up front. There's a 32GB storage option also available for those looking to buy the new Nokia 6 for cheaper still which is nice. Under the hood, Nokia is stepping up with a 2.2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 processor that's mated to 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The new model runs Android 7.1 and will be upgraded later to Android 8.0. And the 2018 version also has come up with two features unique to this segment- Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C.

The device comes in two variants - one with 32GB storage priced at 1499 yuan and the other with 64GB storage priced at 1699 yuan. There's a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. Last year's model was a little underpowered on paper (using a Snapdragon 430 chip), while the 2018 version uses a mid-range chip that's undoubtedly more capable and power efficient. And, late last month, we came across a report which said that the Nokia 7 would be launched globally in early 2018.
