John Dickerson replaces Charlie Rose on 'CBS This Morning'

John Dickerson, 49, will join "CBS This Morning" as a co-host on Wednesday, taking the hot seat alongside co-stars Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell, the network announced.

Dickerson replaces Charlie Rose, who was sacked in November over sexual misconduct allegations. "Gayle and Norah continue to show tremendous leadership on our morning broadcast each day". Dickerson slowly worked up the ranks until he replaced legendary reporter Bob Schieffer as the moderator the CBS' Sunday current events program in 2015. That sets him apart from ABC "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos, who continues to host ABC's "This Week" on Sundays.

Dickerson will be replaced on Face the Nation.

"John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends our commitment to real news coverage every morning at CBS News", said David Rhodes, president of CBS News. CBS said Tuesday that "Dickerson will transition from the "Face the Nation" anchor chair in the coming weeks as CBS News prepares to name his successor".

This is for the fifth consecutive month that the index has come in above 50-point mark that separates expansion from contraction. Reflecting greater cost pressures, firms raised their output charges for the fifth month in succession.

In late November, The Washington Post published a report in which eight women accused Rose of sexual harassment, including groping, nudity, and vulgar phone calls.

CBS has been mired in third place in the broadcast morning show wars for decades. King and O'Donnell also released statements revealing their excitement to welcome Dickerson to the team.

His appointment comes after NBC named Hoda Kotb to replace its own shamed morning star, Matt Lauer, on "Today", now the most watched morning cable news show in the United States. But NBC moved more quickly naming his replacement, decided not go go with another male co-host and opting instead for Hoda Kotb, who is very familiar to, and well liked by Today show viewers.
