Benjamin Netanyahu heads to Moscow to warn about Iran in Lebanon

If Iran is not stopped from entrenching itself militarily in Syria or turning Lebanon into a "factory for precision missiles" aimed at Israel, then Israel will stop it, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made firm statements about Iran before leaving for Russian Federation to discuss the Islamic Republic with one of its key allies, President Vladimir Putin. Their last meeting was held at the end of August, 2017.

Noting Netanyahu's success, Elkin added, "If you had asked me two and a half years ago what the chances Israel would be able to retain critical freedom of movement in those areas, I would have told you the chance was negligible".

This is the seventh meeting between the two leaders since Russian forces have engaged in an air campaign against Syria terrorists, under the request of Damascus.

Haaretz reported that Netanyahu and Putin were expected to discuss Israel's opposition to any arrangement that would let Iranian forces remain on Syria's territory once the war is over, as well as the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

Netanyahu flew to Russian Federation for the day on Monday for his seventh face-to-face meeting with Putin in two years. "But it's a fact that Netanyahu has managed to achieve that, time after time, in these meetings".

"I very much appreciate this invitation and your personal attendance in this place on this day, that reflects our common struggle against the greatest evil that humanity has known", Netanyahu said. "That is our mission today as well".

"We will take this opportunity to talk about our bilateral relations and to discuss the situation in the region", Putin said.

With the Russian army just across the border in Syria, Netanyahu said that these meetings with Putin - and the type of cooperation that has developed between the defense establishments of both countries - is critical "so we don't clash".
