Google's Chrome ad blocker is coming, but may be ineffectual

In June, Google revealed its plans to have the browser start blocking certain types of ads, like autoplay videos. The Coalition for Better Ads has a list of rules and guidelines that online advertisements need to follow so they don't get blocked from Chrome, and violations include the likes of pop-ups, ads that take over your entire screen, automatically playing videos, etc. But now we know exactly when: February 15, 2018 (via VentureBeat) is the go-live date provided by the company for introduction of its built-in enforcement of the standards established by the Coalition for Better Ads, of which it is a member.

The goal seems to be for Google to cut back on users' use of third-party ad blockers that ban all ads outright. Google will begin blocking ads in line with the Coalition for Better Ads' "Better Ads Experience Program".

Another reception is to be held in Mumbai on December 26 for their friends from Bollywood and Cricketers. Kajol, just like everyone else, was all happy seeing the two of them together.

Google will notify websites that contain these ads of a potential blocking through its Ad Experience Report tool.

The new Chrome ad blocker will be based on standards established by the Coalition for Better Ads (CFBA), and will be the default service for all Chrome browser users. This is also where alleged violations can be appealed by website owners. One can probably guess numerous types of ads that won't meet the guidelines: full-page interstitial ads, ads that play sound unexpectedly, and pop-ups, among others. Yes, Google has finally added an ad-blocker in Chrome that will be cracking down on annoying ads that ruin our web experience. Google has noted in the past that ad blockers which do not discriminate hurt publishers that create free content and threaten "the sustainability of the web ecosystem". In addition, you can also check Google's best practices guide on how to use ads. Google is in the business of serving ads, after all, so it only makes sense that they want to protect their lucrative revenue stream.
