Gallup Poll Names Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Most Admired People Again

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have topped Gallup's list for the most admired man and woman living anywhere in the world-the tenth consecutive year for the former president and the 16th such recognition for the former secretary of state.

Gallup's December poll found 17% of respondents named Obama the man they admired most, a dip from 22% of respondents saying the same previous year.

"Hillary Clinton has been named most admired more than any woman - or man - in Gallup's polling history".

"What? Like it's hard?" Other women on the most admired list include Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Warren, Angela Merkel, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, and current First Lady Melania Trump.

Barack Obama has been named as the "most admired man" by Americans for the 10th year running, nearly a year after leaving the White House.

Pope Francis finished third, with 3%.

Although Trump won easily among Republicans, with 35 percent naming him as the man they admire most, Obama led among both Democrats, with 39 percent naming him, and independents, with 12 percent saying they admire him most, according to the results.

Overall, she has held the title 22 times, more than any other woman-or man, for that matter.

Gallup explains that Trump's unpopularity is likely what's holding him back from winning the most admired distinction.

Donald Trump trailed Obama in second place for the men while Michelle Obama was close behind Clinton in second place for the women.

The poll was conducted from 4-11 December among 1,049 American adults from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and has a margin of sampling error of ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Obama retained his top title for the 10th straight year, Gallup said.

Eleanor Roosevelt is a distant second, getting 13 most honorable mentions in the poll.
