Robert Mueller has proof to charge Micheal Flynn

Mueller has allegedly collected enough evidence as part of the probe into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election to file charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn and his son, according to NBC News. Federal investigators are also reportedly looking into allegations Flynn attempted to sidestep the extradition process and send the Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen, a rival of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, back to Turkey in exchange for a multi-million dollar fee.

Mr Mueller is increasing pressure on Mr Flynn following his indictment of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, NBC said.

Mr Flynn resigned in February, after just 24 days in the role, when it emerged he had lied to administration officials, including Mike Pence, the Vice President, about his communications with representatives of the Russian government.

Flynn's son appeared to comment on the NBC report shortly after it was published.

Special counsel investigators will be interviewing witnesses this week to get more information about Flynn's lobby work as well.

Three House Republicans have said "obvious conflicts of interest" should require Mueller to step down, citing his relationship with former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, Politico reports.

If charged, Flynn would become the first member of Trump's administration to face prosecution in the growing, wide-ranging investigation into whether the president's campaign team colluded with Russian Federation to damage the reputation of Hillary Clinton.

Washington Post conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin said that Attorney Gen. Jeff Sessions "is going to have a lot of difficulty" in the weeks ahead due to his false statements to Congress.

After Trump fired James Comey in May, the former FBI director testified that the president had suggested to him that the bureau drop a potential criminal investigation into Flynn.

In addition, George Papadopoulos was revealed in unsealed documents to have pleaded guilty to misleading investigators over conversations he had with foreign nationals, including Russians.
