Did Sessions mislead Congress about his interactions with Russian Federation?

Page's trip to Moscow has previously been disclosed, but in testimony before the House intel committee last week, the former adviser informed congressional investigators he had notified former campaign manager Corey Lewnadowski and White House communications director Hope Hicks of his travel to Russian Federation.

Page wrote in a July 2016 email to Trump campaign aides that Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich "expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to a vast range of current worldwide problems", according to a transcript of more than six hours of testimony Page gave last week before a House of Representatives committee investigating Russian interference in the USA election.

"All I can tell you is this, there was no collusion, there was no nothing", he continued.

That was the same month that another foreign policy advisor, George Papadopoulos, also suggested a Trump Moscow visit, according to court documents last week.

The New York Times first reported that Page notified campaign officials about his meetings in Moscow, but the transcript, which is more than 200 pages long, discloses the names of those advisers - Tera Dahl and J.D. Gordon - and the identity of the Russian official, Dvorkovich.

Deposed Catalan leader demands release of ministers
This led to the Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy dissolving the regional parliament and calling a snap election for December. The jailing of the former ministers caused an uproar in Catalonia, where pro-independence protesters filled the streets.

But Sessions, who was a top surrogate for Trump during the campaign, did not disclose these discussions despite a persistent set of questions from Democrats and some Republicans about Russian Federation during multiple hearings on Capitol Hill.

In a letter sent Tuesday, the lawmakers note that one of the Trump campaign's foreign policy advisers, George Papadopoulos, acknowledged to FBI investigators that he told several Trump campaign officers about his outreach to the Russian Federation government.

Leahy echoed that concern, saying Papadopoulos' account was "impossible to reconcile with the attorney general's appearance before the [Senate] Judiciary Committee just two weeks ago".

Democratic lawmakers charge Attorney General Jeff Sessions was inconsistent with details on the campaign's relationship with Russian Federation.

"Sen. Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities", Sessions said. Papadopoulos's case in particular fits with a broader pattern of Trump aides making contact with Russian operatives that has come into focus in recent weeks. Last week, he pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about contacts with Russians. The filings indicate the former adviser is now co-operating with prosecutors in their investigation. In his many conversations with the press over the past year, Page adamantly denied that he ever met with Russian government officials over the course of the 2016 campaign.
