Chip Kelly To Decide Between Florida, UCLA

Chip Kelly To Decide Between Florida, UCLA

The competition for Chip Kelly is down to two candidates as UCLA representatives met with Kelly on Tuesday, according to media reports, and the former OR head coach is now expected to decide between the Bruins and Florida this week, ESPN reported.

Sports attorney Darren Heitner, who graduated from the University of Florida, reported on Wednesday that Kelly signed an agreement with Florida on Sunday.

However, Florida - which cut ties with Jim McElwain on October 29 - has been in hot pursuit of his services for the last week. Believe it or not, Schroeder was told that UCLA's association with Under Armour could be a potential issue for Kelly, who is close with Nike founder Phil Knight. UCLA fired Jim Mora on November 19, the day after the Bruins lost to rival USC for the third season in a row.

It appears Chip Kelly is getting ready to accept a job coaching somewhere, but it is still anybody's guess as to where Kelly will land. According to ESPN, however, Kelly is expected to make his decision between Florida and UCLA over the next few days and is not considering any other options for his next job. However, Kelly is 44-5 at the collegiate level during the regular season and 46-7 as a whole. His final team in 2012 went 12-1 and averaged 49.6 points per game. Kelly was sacked by the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.

While he was sacked from two National Football League head coaching jobs in two years, he was wildly successful as a head coach in college. His NFL stint was far less successful, finishing with a 26-21 record with the Eagles and a 2-14 mark with the 49ers.
