Blaise Matuidi unconcerned by France World Cup qualifying struggles

France host Belarus in their final World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening knowing victory at the Stade de France will guarantee a place at the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

Les Bleus, who have at least secured a playoff spot, will top Group A with victory at the Stade de France or if they draw and second-placed Sweden fail to beat the Netherlands.

France midfielder Blaise Matuidi has said he is not anxious by the team's unconvincing World Cup qualifying campaign, saying they have "huge potential". "It's a special game for the whole team because it's our last chance to take points and prove to everybody that we're capable of competing against very good opposition". "We're still first - that's important - we've got one match left and (qualification) remains in our hands, so we have to win on Tuesday".

Gareth Southgate leads England through to 2018 World Cup
When he was substituted at Huddersfield, the home fans gave him a round of applause, despite scoring twice against the Terriers. England dragged themselves over the finish line with a 93rd-minute victor by in-form striker Harry Kane .

Bulgaria more than held their own in Sofia, though, as they looked to repeat the famous win over France that sent them to the 1994 World Cup, and Hugo Lloris was forced into a point-blank save to deny Georgi Kostadinov. Talk in the build-up to this game had centred on a match 24 years ago when Bulgaria had denied France a place at the 1994 World Cup in the United States. In the last five matches, France has won three matches, lost one match and the other match ended in a draw whereas the team Belarus has won one match and lost four matches.

What is the team news for France vs Belarus? "I haven't had time to analyse our potential opponents, but I know they all have competitive teams". It wasn't all plain sailing for France as the engine was stripped out of their midfield 10 minutes before half-time when Chelsea's N'Golo Kante went off with a hamstring injury, to be replaced by Adrien Rabiot.
