The GeForce MX150 graphics can handle 4K output, via the USB Type-C port, up to 60Hz and up to 30Hz via HDMI. In fact, Xiaomi called out the MacBook Pro by name when announcing its latest computing powerhouse, and made many comparisons to Apple's bestseller. It has 16GB RAM on-board with 1TB of SSD Storage. The Mi Notebook Pro features an 8th generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor claiming to be the first batch of notebooks in the world to do so. Like the Mi Notebook Air, which initially was only available in China, a similar approach towards the Mi Notebook Pro is expected.

Xiaomi also says that users can expect up to six hours of video playback via Wi-Fi, nine hours of local video playback or 8.5 hours of Wi-Fi browsing from the Mi Notebook Pro running on just its internal battery. "We want to provide good and affordable products that are of high values, sounds very simple but it's hard to do", said Xiaomi's founder and CEO Lei Jun while presenting the new laptop.

We still don't know whether the new laptop will be for the Chinese market only, or the company will decide to give the global market a shot. Although most Windows laptops, and even the MacBook Air, use TN screens, the Apple MacBook Pro uses IPS display.

The Mi Notebook Pro's 15.6-inch IPS display offers 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 300 nits peak brightness, 72% NTSC color space coverage, and a static contrast ratio of 800:1.

The battery promises 60Wh of power, along with support for 1C quick charge. After several anticipations and leaks, Xiaomi's two smartphones were expected to unveil today at the launch event. The version with Core i7 and 8GB of RAM will retail for ¥6,399 ($940), and the model with Core i7 and 16GB of RAM will be up for sale for ¥6,999 ($1,030). That would be a nice round price for it to go on sale in the United States, and although we don't have an official release date just yet, we'd expect to see it here before the holidays.
