Horror moment Russian helicopter fires deadly missiles at crowd causing HUGE explosion

A Russian military helicopter accidentally fired rockets near a crowd of spectators during military exercises in the west of the country, reportedly injuring two people.

The helicopter drill was part of Zapad, a large-scale joint military exercise with Belarus taking place along the border with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries west of Russian Federation.

According to local media, two people - it claimed to be journalists - were left seriously injured after the military mishap.

"On 18 September within the bounds of the staging the episode of the practical actions of the Zapad 17 strategic exercises, there were no incidents connected with the work of army aviation", the ministry told Interfax. According to the sources, three people were lightly injured and two cars damaged, and the military is already carrying out an investigation.

The helicopter drill was part of Zapad, a large-scale joint military exercise with Belarus taking place close to Russia's border with Estonia. The Moscow Times reports an unnamed military source said the incident was a mistake "and the missiles blasted off on their own".

Iskander tactical ballistic missile systems are capable of hitting both small-size and large-area targets at a distance of up to 500 km to destroy missile and multiple launch rocket systems, long-range artillery guns, aircraft and helicopters at aerodromes, command posts and communications centers. There are contradictory reports about casualties.
