DirecTV offers refunds to customers angry over National Football League anthem protests

The package costs approximately $280 per season, and allows sports fans to watch every Sunday football game. One DirecTV representative told The Journal that only customers with specific plans could get refunds, another said customers could get prorated refunds for the remainder of the season, a third said full refunds were available while a fourth said no refunds were being offered.

The Wall Street Journal reports DirecTV representatives have offered different answers when contacted, but multiple customers have said they've received at least some refunds when citing the anthem protests as their reason for canceling the NFL Sunday Ticket service. AT&T itself has not confirmed the news. The Wall Street Journal originally reported on the change in policy.

A national survey was conducted surrounding the NFL players' decision to kneel during the anthem, and 64% of respondents said NFL players should stand during the anthem and be respectful.

On one occasion, he said: 'Wouldn't you love to see one of these National Football League owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say "get that son of a bitch off the field right now".

Heisman Watch: Saquon Barkley finally makes his statement
After the game, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz's reaction was disappointment with a soul-wrenching loss mixed with pride over the fight. Nebraska postponed the game due to a number of its players out with an unnamed illness, therefore making them unable to play.

The first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem was Colin Kaepernick, who said he did it to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

Several NFL owners and Commissioner Roger Goodell responded by saying they supported their players' rights to free speech.

While last weekend was certainly one few players and fans of the NFL will forget anytime soon, it will also likely not be the last time we widespread protests across the league.

Direct TV is offering refunds to NFL fans over the recent national anthem protests. On Monday night, the Dallas Cowboys all took a knee, including team owner Jerry Jones.
