CEOs, Staff Put Pressure on Trump over DACA Decision

Kathy Castor says it would be a "colossal error" if President Donald Trump chose to pull the plug on the Obama-era program that protects undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.

The program aims to protect immigrants who arrived to the U.S.at a young age from deportation. He continues on to relate these values to DACA, explaining that "DACA carries forward these commitments and exemplifies the spirit that has long defined this country: it enables hardworking, honest young people to thrive as engaged and productive members of our society, and it strengthens us all through the talent that they bring to America".

The economic data cited by Bush is based on claims made by the open-borders, cheap-labor CATO Institute, the Democrats' Center for American Progress and Mark Zuckerberg's FWD.us, which has been derided by opponents as the "billionaires' liberation front".

The program was created through a memorandum by the Department of Homeland Security, which means it can be rescinded without any input from Congress. "This affects people that had no choice".

"They have everybody's name and information on file for all of these individuals with DACA status", she said. Even though the children studied were natural-born citizens themselves, having an undocumented parent made it more likely they would eventually be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

"This is earth shattering for so many affected by it", she said after hearing the report. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters last Friday that the program continues to be under review.

But the legal pinnings of the DACA program have always been suspect.

Mother dies trying to save her daughter while escaping from Hurricane Harvey
Earlier in the week this image of a SWAT officer carrying a mother and her sleeping baby to safety went viral. Department spokesperson Officer Carol Riley told People that the woman "absolutely saved the child's life".

"To me, it would be utterly irrational to pick a fight over the dreamers", Gingrich said, adding that ending the program would further hamper the president and isolate his administration.

Originally, Texas and nine other states were putting pressure on Trump to eliminate DACA by September 5th, which is when they were going to sue over the program's constitutionality.

The pro-DACA efforts have included numerous meetings this month between Democratic lawmakers and local immigrants who are enrolled in or eligible for the program.

But Mario H. Lopez, president of the conservative Hispanic Leadership Fund, which disagreed with the way the Obama administration implemented the policy, said there were no upsides to punishing people who were brought to the country through no fault of their own.

"You have said that DACA students are 'incredible kids, ' and I very much agree".

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would have to decide whether they're willing to risk angering the most conservative wing of the Republican base by allowing a vote on what some on the right consider an "amnesty" - which would nearly certainly need Democratic votes to pass. As someone who teaches, advises, and mentors students, I enjoy watching them explore and figure out what the term might hold for them.
