Nitish calls on Modi, Amit Shah

India's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah Saturday invited Chief Minister of the eastern state of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, to join the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Mr Kumar's meeting with PM Modi on Friday was his first after he dumped his alliance partners, Lalu Yadav and Congress, last month and returned as Chief Minister within hours, this time with support from the BJP.

"NDA will also be stronger with Kumar's party joining it", a BJP leader said.

"There is no question of leaving the party (JD-U)".

Reacting to speculation that Sharad Yadav may form his own party, Tyagi said: "How can he do this?"

Sharad Yadav said "Jab hum Indira Gandhi se nahi dare aur unke khilaf khade hue, kisi aur se kaisa darna", he said.

RCP Singh, a confidante of the chief minister, will replace Yadav as the party leader in Parliament's Upper House.

Undersecretary of State Thomas Shannon and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov. In their meeting, Lavrov said, Tillerson agreed to continue a dialogue between U.S.

Ansari said the faction led by Nitish has become a "government JD-U". He told them of his displeasure and pain over Nitish Kumar's decision to break the Grand Alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress and join hands with the BJP and form a new government. Calling the move a "necessary step", Narayan said that if a person who is a leader indulges in anti-party activities, it must be condemned. "Kumar's decision to align with the BJP is unacceptable", Ansari said.

Meanwhile, Sharad hit out at Nitish, saying the party is not Nitish's alone but belonged to him too.

He added that this was not a personal fight against Nitish Kumar but a fight of principles and to save democracy and brotherhood.

"Yesterday (Friday) they suspended me from the parliamentary party". We are not going to get cowed down by such threats.

He said, "As far as Yadav talking to Shahabuddin and Nitish talking to Anant Singh goes, Singh was not an inmate of a jail and was Nitish's MLA".

Earlier on Saturday, the JD (U) affirmed that there is no split in the party but added it's not hopeful of Yadav and Ali Anwar of attending the party meeting on August 19.
