'Despacito' becomes the most viewed song on YouTube

Well, today the song is back in the news, this time as the word comes down that "Despacito" Is The First YouTube Video To Reach 3 Billion Views.

"Despacito" is on track to become the first video to reach three billion views on YouTube.

"See You Again" was released in 2015, which means it took Despacito only seven months to beat a song which spent two years making its way up.

The video is also the most "liked" video on YouTube.

With the enormous popularity that "Despacito" has seen in only seven months, it looks like this might be a pretty tough record for future artists to break, but stranger things have happened.

Dolphins QB Tannehill goes down with injury during practice
The signal-caller remained down for about 15 seconds before getting up and walking slowly to the locker room. He missed the Dolphins' last three regular-season games and their playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Though Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" later surpassed this number, the song's popularity presents a temping offer for potential bidders.

As of early Friday afternoon (4 August) on the US East Coast, 'Despacito' had logged 2.995 billion views on YouTube, ahead of rap ballad 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth at 2.994 billion.

"Thank you YouTube for 'Despacito's success".

"The music industry has changed, the rules of music have changed and YouTube has a big responsibility [in it] and I recognize it", Yankee said. "My Dance Company and I had a great time working on this video and we can't wait for people to watch it!"

"Breaking a record is overwhelming, and I'm happy to keep inspiring others to do the same", he added, speaking from Puerto Rico.
