NY police urged the public to avoid the area around the hospital at 1650 Grand Concourse. The gunman, who police identified as 45-year-old Dr. Henry Bello, was a former employee of the hospital.

The New York Times reported that three doctors were among those shot. There was no word on their conditions.

A staff member quoted by News 4 said that the hospital is under lockdown as police are evacuating the people present inside floor by floor.
