Leicester City must get rid of Riyad Mahrez

Arsenal, though, lead the race to sign the Algeria interntional, with Arsene Wenger keen to revamp his squad following an underwhelming campaign in the 2016/17 season.

Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare has confirmed that no bids have yet been tabled for wantaway winger Riyad Mahrez.

Arsenal have been continually linked with the 2016 PFA Player of the Year who said he felt it was "time for me to move on" and that there was a gentleman's agreement with Leicester he would be allowed to leave.

Arsenal are refusing to meet the £50m asking price for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. The players understand the reasons why he came out with what he did. As Craig Shakespeare writes the prologue of what would be a new chapter in the club's history, the 26-year old's presence alone could be detrimental to their interests, not to forget that - with all due respect - his lack of loyalty could be contagious. Him coming out, we know where it stands, but ultimately he's contracted to the football club.

However, he remains one of Leicester's most important players, so it's to be expected they want as much as possible for him.

Saudi-led coalition gives Qatar 2 more days to meet demands
The Saudi-led coalition had earlier threatened to impose more sanctions on Qatar if Doha did not meet the demands. Qatar has called the conditions impossible and urged for their revision.

Shakespeare hopes Mahrez will be back in a Leicester shirt for the club's trip to Hong Kong to play in the Premier League Asia Trophy later this month.

"Having made that statement it's how you're accepted by the other players".

"We haven't had any bids and, if we don't have one, we've got no decision to make", Shakespeare said. Beyond that Shakespeare said he is "open-minded" about selecting Mahrez. "The decision making comes when we have a bid and we can assess that when it happens".

"The relationship I share with the club and our wonderful fans are something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision".

"Knowing him as I do I think with Riyad he was just trying to be as honest as he can".
