Halo 5 gets a shiny 4K update for Xbox One X

Halo 5 gets a shiny 4K update for Xbox One X

In other words, that's all we know: Halo 5 will not be remastered or re-released for Xbox One X. Instead the existing game will simply be updated to support 4K graphics on Xbox One X only. That's right, Halo 5: Guardians is getting a 4K makeover.

This includes: Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: CE Anniversary. It was unusual to many, that Phil Spencer didn't mention Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection at E3 when the Xbox One X was officially revealed. Following the release of the Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries released a version of Halo 3: ODST which was able to run 60 frames per second much like the rest had been updated to do. Four Halo games will become backward compatible on Xbox One later this year too. Additionally, they all support multiplayer and LAN play, including LAN cross-play from Xbox 360 to Xbox One.

In an even more welcome move, every Xbox 360 map pack now on sale in the Xbox Store will be made available to download for free. But, this year, July 6 has some announcements that would be fitting for a Halo Day under 343's leadership.

Woman wins famous hot dog eating contest
On the women's side: can ANYONE top Miki Sudo? She won previous year with 38.5 hot dogs , making it her third consecutive victory. Record-setting eaters are gearing up to gobble at the renowned Nathan's Famous July Fourth hot dog eating contest in NY .

Halo 5 will support true 4k resolution on Xbox One X, developer 343 Industries has announced. The new playlist will be built from scratch and will include a selection of community-made Halo 3 maps created using Forge in Halo 5 and will feature "classic" gameplay settings.

Today, Microsoft and 343 Studios kicked off the 2017 Halo Summer Celebration with a ton of news.

Good news for you Master Chief fans out there!
