USA equities kicked off Friday's session slightly higher as Wall Street parsed through a jobs report that came in well below expectations. The WSJ Dollar Index rose 0.2% while 10-year Treasury yields edged up to 2.217% from 2.198% Wednesday.

The Nasdaq composite jumped 13 points, or 0.2 percent, to 6,211. The Nasdaq composite rose 17, or 0.3 percent, to 6,216.

The more comprehensive jobs report from the US government arrives on Friday.

The Dow Jones Small-Cap Value TSM Index closed at 9,508.01 for a gain of 149.34 points or 1.60%. The euro fell to $1.1214 from $1.1246, and the British pound dipped to $1.2876 from $1.2892.
