States form Climate Alliance to meet Paris Goals

May's office says she spoke to President Donald Trump after his announcement and "expressed her disappointment with the decision".

"The White House's reckless decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement has devastating repercussions not only for the United States, but for our planet", New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said.

During Trump's speech Thursday, he claimed that US contributions to the Green Climate Fund - a pool of money the United Nations uses to help countries implement clean energy tech - and other environmental initiatives have placed a "draconian" burden on the United States.

On the other hand, he praised President Trump for taking the "courageous" action of pulling the USA from the Paris agreement.

Gov. Bill Walker released a statement highlighting the effects of climate change across the state, but he stopped short of criticizing President Trump's decision.

While Trump blasted the Paris Accord of being unfair to the USA, at the same time, he tried to downplay the global agreement as ineffective in combating the climate change by quoting an MIT finding, though without naming it, "It is estimated it would only produce a two-tenths of one degree Celsius reduction in global temperature by the year 2100".

She continued: "I've always loved Manchester and not just tonight, it's always felt like a home away from home to me". He said: "Today's One Love Manchester benefit concert will not only continue, but will do so with greater goal ".

"Non-compliance with commitments in the Paris accord by a government which is the second-largest producer of greenhouse gases and is one of the most polluting countries, is unacceptable", said Ghasemi. In the past, Trump has called climate change a hoax despite most of the world having acknowledged it for more than a decade. "Global agreements aside, we remain committed to creating a better environment".

Study co-author Erwan Monier, a lead researcher at the joint program, said that the school's climate researchers "certainly do not support the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris agreement". He said cities across the world are working in solidarity to curb climate change. "I promised I would exit or renegotiate any deal which fails to serve America's interests". "Just the opposite - we are forging ahead", he said in a statement Thursday shortly after the president moved to leave the deal. Within the USA, the announcement saw protests amidst questions about President Trump's views on climate change.

She was referring to statistics that Trump cited in announcing the USA withdrawal and which are disputed by environmentalists, according to a report in the Washington Post.

"I am proud to stand with other governors as we make sure that the inaction in D.C.is met by an equal force of action from the states", Washington Governor Jay Inslee said Thursday. Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor and Traverse City Mayor Jim Carruthers are the only MI leaders who've added their cities to the list.

Youngstown, Ohio, Mayor John McNally (D) said he supports the Paris agreement in a phone interview Friday, adding he was surprised at the shoutout from Trump.
