Monaco Grand Prix: Sebastian Vettel beats Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo

Sebastian Vettel secured a memorable one-two for Ferrari in last night's 75th Monaco Grand Prix to extend his world championship lead to a luxurious 25 points over Lewis Hamilton.

Sebastian Vettel has taken the win in Monaco in a rather low-key race, pushing pole-sitter and team mate Kimmi Raikkonen in to second place for a convincing Ferrari One-two.

Raikkonen is fourth in the championship standings and already 55 points behind Vettel.

"There was no plan on team orders", Vettel said.

His 45th career win was the German's third in six races but there was plenty of sympathy for Raikkonen, who last won with Lotus in 2013.

"It doesn't feel bad good", Raikkonen told Germany's retired 2016 champion Nico Rosberg in interviews after the podium ceremonies. "One more race like this and we will be much further behind".

"I'm trying to figure out something that is impossible to know right now, at least from my side", said Raikkonen, when asked about the timing of his stop.

A largely uneventful race was enlivened by a late safety vehicle after a collision involving McLaren's Jenson Button, on his one-off return to F1 in place of Fernando Alonso who opted to partake in the Indy auto racing in the US.

Even moderate drinking linked to changes in brain structure
In addition, those who drank more were found to fare worse on a test of lexical fluency. Finally, dependent drinking is when the person is addicted to alcohol.

The race was back on on lap 68, which again allowed Vettel to pull away but put Ricciardo under pressure from Bottas and Verstappen and the Australian's race very almost ended then and there when he got too deep into turn one and hit the wall hard. "Until we have meetings and we can see all the graphs, I don't know".

"After that I was able to control the gap".

"I did what I came to do today, didn't make any silly mistakes, didn't damage the vehicle, got those points and I'd like to think at the end of the season those points are going to be valuable".

"There was a couple of laps where the vehicle was really, really good".

Then, after the safety auto came out again, Russian Daniil Kvyat also lost control of his vehicle in a frantic finish.

Wehrlein's team mate Marcus Ericsson then plowed straight on into the barriers at the first corner with 13 laps remaining. Ferrari was an afterthought, 367 adrift of Mercedes in third and scrapping for podium places rather than wins. Previous "Driver of the Day" winners from earlier in the season, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen, were fourth and fifth. Romain Grosjean (Haas) +18.150s 9.

Verstappen took advantage of the pause to pit for fresh ultra-soft tyres before, when the action resumed after 66 laps, the final chase, and battle of attrition, began. Mexican Sergio Perez was 13th, ending his run of 15 successive points finishes for Force India.
