Artist shares stories and songs at Langley's Relay for Life

Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide previous year.

The founder of Relay for Life, Gordon Flatt, who also battled with cancer, got the idea for this fundraising event when he walked and ran around a track in Washington for 24 hours to raise money for cancer. Rallying the passion of 4 million people worldwide, Relay For Life events raise funds that help fuel the mission of the American Cancer Society.

Teams of volunteers were still on the track later Saturday morning, helping the American Cancer Society and cancer victims close to these participants. As the survivors pass by, clapping and celebrating to the upbeat music, the memories of all those lost over the years surfaces, too.

Expert warns Oil may touch $30
The majority of non-OPEC countries registered substantial declines in their 2016 average crude production, as compared to 2015. Oil prices are trading lower this afternoon.

Mariann Shook, organizer of the event for 2016 and 2017, was recognized and applauded for her service and efforts in bringing Relay for Life to Hoisington.

Numerous attendees commented that they felt the Depot Street location also gave the Relay a more intimate feel, rather than the wide-open space at the GMS track.

A moving candlelight ceremony involving the attendees was also led by the Master of Ceremonies Margo Olmstead, who pointed out that nearly everyone has been touched by cancer in some way - either as a patient or as a friend, relative or caregiver of a cancer victim.
