Apple reveals new HomePod, iPad Pro and upgraded operating systems

This autumn will see the release of Apple's iOS 11 mobile operating system, but it will not be available on the iPhone 5 and 5C or the iPad 4. The assumed 10.5-inch iPad Pro is expected to arrive with a smaller 9.7-inch sibling, by virtue of the reduction in bezels.

The latest O.S will roll out later this year. Though we are still discovering small and big features of iOS 11, a tiny new update to the screen capture feature has caused a lot of worries among avid Snapchat users. A public iOS 11 beta is coming later this month. And videos called memories that can spot key moments such as anniversaries. There are reasons to try the iOS 11 beta and reasons to skip it.

Apple's new iPhone operating mode isn't impenetrable, however; important messages can still break through if they're marked "urgent", and users will be able to deactivate Do Not Disturb while Driving if they so choose.

The new iPad Pro costs $649 and will begin shipping next week. What this feature does is that it automatically deleted unused applications to free up space.

A Kepler mission scientist said, for the first time, there is at least one planet that nearly matches the Earth. Scientists with the mission expect that Kepler's K2 mission will continue until sometime in 2018.

While Microsoft's support for the first-party file management app in iOS may have some questioning the future of the OneDrive app for iOS, Microsoft's app does include additional features such as scanning, powered by Office Lens, and camera upload.

Once iPhones start upgrading to iOS 11 this fall, users will notice a stream of new features, including an automatic Do Not Disturb feature that's created to stop drivers from being distracted by their phone. The iMac Pro will begin exporting in December and will be exclusive for professional users.

Since June 2015, any newly created apps have been required to support 64-bit processing, so any that have been updated during this period should not be affected by the changes.
