Lalu to face trial in all fodder scam cases: SC

This court order comes days after a News Channel releasing a Tape in which Lalu is taking instructions from Mafia don, Shahabuddin.

Lalu Yadav was one of the first chief ministers to be associated with the Fodder Scam.

He is already facing severe flak for contacting jailed gangster Mohd Shahabuddin. He then approached the Jharkhand high court challenging the verdict of the CBI court. 63 cases were registered under IPC Sections 420 (forgery) and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) and Section 13 (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Goswami, who anchored the 9 pm "The Newshour" show on Times Now, resigned from the channel in November, a year ago and has been shoring up support for the channel over the last few months.

The Supreme Court, in response to a Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) plea opposing the dropping of charges, directed that the RJD chief would be tried for criminal conspiracy in the case. Rabri given bail; Lalu's bail plea rejected and he is remanded to judicial custody.

In yet another tweet, Sushil Modi alleged that Abdul Ghafoor, a minister in the Nitish government, went to Siwan jail to meet Shahabuddin and another minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui met his parents.

The state's Animal Husbandry Department withdrew Rs 900 cr from various districts to make payment against inflated invoices. They were all convicted by a Patna CBI court in 2013, a judgment that Lalu Yadav contested. The high court upheld the CBI plea to continue proceedings in the trial court against Lalu under two sections.

The sentence had immediately led to his disqualification from Parliament and barred him from elections for 11 years.

The apex court bench comprising justices Amitava Roy and P.C. Ghose also directed the state to conclude trial within 9 months. The apex court set aside a ruling of the Jharkhand high court that dropped certain charges on the grounds that a person once convicted or acquitted can not to be tried for the same offence again.

"Shahabuddin represents the worst form of criminal-political nexus in the country.A convicted notorious criminal like Shahabuddin is running the administration and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad is assisting him in that", the minister said.
